Stitched across back and over shoulders, then released to hang loose at sides about 7" . Bottom of blouse and sleeves have same colors of ribbon, green at hem edge, machine stitched 2 1/4' - 2 1/2" apart. Side seams are both at selvedge of fabric. No maker's mark or label. 105 1998.17.10 Blouse Black velvet with elbow length sleeves. The neckline in the front and back forms a wide V. The bottom of the blouse in the front and back is also shaped like a V with the point in the center. A zipper measures 8" on the left side, from the bottom to the underarm. Color: BK

The right side of the blouse crosses over to the waist on the left side; this creates the v-neck. Where it connects at the waist there is more of shirring that is 3" long and 2" wide. A 5 3/4" long and 21" wide strip of the same red satin is sewn onto the bottom of the blouse to form a peplum. Color: RD

109 1998.19.35 Shirt A traditional Guatemalan shirt. There are thick vertical stripes of yellow surrounded on both sides with thin vertical stripes of orange, purple, green, and maroon. Next are thick vertical stripes of light blue surrounded on both sides with thin vertical stripes of red, dark purple, bright yellow, and dark blue. There is a breast pocket on both sides. On the rim of the pockets, collar and center buttons seen there is stitching. On the two outer edges the thread is light blue and stitched in a braid pattern. Inside the light blue thread on either side is light purple thread, stitched to resemble a circle. In the center is dark purple thread stitched to resemble a diamond, with an orange stitched center. The buttons are dark purple, sewn on with blue thread, and are inserted through a separate piece of cloth behind the center seam as not to show through a separate piece of cloth behind the center seam as not to show through on to the stitching. There is a button under the right collar, and a piece of cloth shaped like a loop on the left upper center seam to serve as a buttonhole. Color: PR,YL,BL,OR

Forest green color with lime green finishing accents. Interior mixed yarn waistband with rubber ribbing. Black label on inside waistband: "Cordurella by Crompto [?]/FOR/SHIRETEX/Slacks by Devonshire." Stamped onto waistband; "SHIRETEX/Slacks by Devonshire" in three places, two near side closure, one near back seam. Interior finishing thread is purple. Cuffs machine finished with hand repairs.
