8	1984.6.220	Photography	Photograph depicts Ambassador Sharp of the United States and Ambassador Bertie of Great Britain standing on either side of a soldier or guard. Sharp and Bertie were ambassadors of war to France during World War I. "Ambassador Sharp. Ambassador Berthi of Great Britain" is written on the back of the photograph. The photographer likely meant Bertie rather than Berthi.
9	1984.6.221	Photography	Photograph depicts the General of the Army and two soldiers standing on a platform in the Chateau de Coucy soon after the Germans evacuated it. Photograph was most likely taken in March or early April of 1917. "Coucy-le-Chateau (Aisne) The General is standing on a platform of the castle" is written in pencil and "Photograph shows the General of the Army that took the famous chateau soon after the evacuation by the Germans" is typed on the back of the print.

Some handwritten, illegible text is visible on the lower right corner of the image, perhaps written on the original film or on the print during developing with a chemical. On the back of the print, "Geril Seibert who accompanied the troops to France at a French dock" is handwritten in pencil. This sentence is also crossed out in pencil. Two more words are written in pencil, perhaps a signature, but are illegible. "3372" is handwritten in blue crayon on the back of the print. "FRENCH PICTORIAL SERVICE 220 WEST 42ND STREET, N.Y." and "PLEASE CREDIT FRENCH-OFFICIAL FROM PICTORIAL PRESS, N.Y." are stamped in blue ink on back of the print. This print was double exposed, either when shooting the film or in the darkroom. A faint image of men (soldiers?) in front of a train is visible in the white space of the dock image.

A second stone wall protects the houses built along the lower part of the hill. "1802" was written in the top left of the image during the developing process. Illegible text in lower right of image possibly reads " 86v8" (mirrored?), handwritten during developing process. "Saloniki: View of Northern front" is written on the back of the print in pencil.
