1733 2010.7.1 Book 1902-1906 attendance register for the Prairie Grove school (district #7), Fairbank township, Buchanan County. Hardcover book. The front cover reads "Rural School Classification No. 5 of the National Series; National Publishing Company, Cedar Rapids, Iowa." The cover is blue-grey fabric with dark red binding. The back cover is blank. Inside are pages with grids for teachers to record attendance, grades, etc. Some pages are blank or only have a few markings. The inside covers have directions for filling out the various charts. Records by teacher Margaret Leehey.
1734 2010.7.10 Book 1920-1923 teacher's class record from school district 69, Buchanan County. Teachers were Emma Belle Strickell and Geneva Beuter. In 1922 the county supervisor was A. E. Jewett. Hardback, black covers, bound with thread. The first page reads "The Complete School Register" and has information about the book. Published by Ferguson & Benson Company Educational Publishers, Mason City, Iowa. The rest of the pages contain grids to record student attendance and grades. Each teacher listed the number of students, an inventory of the school, and general notes at the end of every term. A list of visitors is on the last page.
1735 2010.7.11 Book 1934-1936 record of attendance for the Prairie Grove (District #7) school, Fairbank Township, Buchanan County. Hardcover book. The covers have thin tiger print in brown and cream with red binding. The front cover has faded light colored print. The first page reads "The Metropolitan Combined Daily Classification and Attendance Register". There are also instructions for using the book and Prairie Grove and Buchanan handwritten. The other pages have grids for recording attendance and grades of students. Inside the back cover is a pocket for the teacher to file a copy of the term reports.

Kiefer. The front cover reads "Welch's System: Attendance, Classification, Gradation and Close Supervision". Published by WM Welch Company Publishers, Chicago. Hardback, bound with four staples. The covers are green with red binding covering and corners. Inside are pages with grids to record grades and attendance of students. The first pages dictate the course of study for Iowa schools, Iowa laws and instructions for filling out the grids. the last two pages list the visitor record. Possibly from a Prairie Grove school based on other similar books in this collection.

Given at Des Moines, Iowa, July 2nd, 1951.Singed by the president of the board of educational examiners, Jessie M. Parker and the Johnson County superintendent, Cleone Watkins. It was valid until June 30th, 1954, in Johnson County, Iowa. Lena Lorraine Turnipseed (née Hightshoe) was a teacher in Johnson County schools. Her sisters, Helen Marine and Martha Schemmel, were also Iowan schoolteachers.

1780 2014-3-1 Pencil Case A handmade wooden pencil case that has been doodle on. On the top of the lid there is the name "Carole" written in cursive in red wtih swirls and designs surrounding it. On the front there is a metal clasp that hooks around a nail protruding from the center with two flowers going in seperate directions parting at the middle with green stems and leaves but the petals are red. The proper right side has some design in red. The back has two metal hinges and "A Green School A" written in green cursive. The proper left side has a bunny rabbit drawn that is outlined in red and colored in white. The inside of the lid has "name" underlined on the proper left side and "Carole" written in white chalk and in darker, more clear writing "Carole Louise Stone" undernealth. The base ofthe box has three sections, two horizontal and narrow and one vertical that is thicker. "Carole Stone" is written in pen or pencil on the proper left side. 2014-3-1 (Pencil Case) image

1788 2014.2.2 Booklet Souvenir from the Scott Public School, District No. 5, Scott Twp., Fayette Co., Iowa. The teacher was Miss Teresa Collins and Belle Thorpe was the county superintendent. The front cover has color illustrations of the American flag, George Washington, the Liberty Bell, and a building labeled Independance Hall. Inside are four pages of poems with decorative black and white boarders and illustrations. The back cover had a small illustration of a candlestick and two wreaths. Bound by two staples. Unknown year, but circa 1915 based on the county superintendent.

A "$1.00" sticker is on the top right corner. A "I-44" sticker is on the interior cover in the top left corner. "Mainard R. Brown is written in pencil on the front page. Binding is detaching from the book and pages are coming loose. "Kenneth Brown age 8" and "Thayer Chandler" is written on the back cover.

"Lousie Raih" and "Mrs. Eugene Huck 40¢" are written on the first page. Doodles are throughout the book, both in pencil and purple crayon. Book is 254 pages; missing pages at the end of the book. 
1794 2015-4-7 Book Gregg Shorthand Progressive Exercises published by Gregg Publishing Company. The Cover is brown with simple text and border. "Esther Staaer" is written both on top of the book and on the "name" line. "90" is written on the first page in the top right corner. The workbook is completed. Loose leaf notes are in between  pages 41 and 42. Book is 64 pages.

"Martha Wente- 2006 W. B Phone 5493M" is written on the interior back cover. Two promotional cards for photographs are placed between the pages of 24 and 25. Book is 97 pages.

Notes are made throughout the book. Some pages were torn and repaired with tape. Book is 221 pages.
