The page is titled "County Superintendent's Statement as to Success and Professional Spirit." It states that she taught in grade schools in Dows, Iowa, for eighteen months from Sept. 1920 - June 1922. Signed at Clarion, Iowa, on October 13th, 1922. Form published by the Ferguson & Company, Mason City, Iowa. Aletha Hutchison Jacobs, born in Buchannan County, Iowa, was a teacher for rural schools in Benton County (1900-1902), Buchanan County (1902-1910), Black Hawk County (1912-1916), Grundy County (1916-1920), Wright County (1920-1921), and Webster County (1922). In 1922 she moved to Pennsylvania with her husband, Elmer. There she taught at Hummelstown High School in Dauphin County (1922-1924) and Reamstown School in East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County (1926-1960).

It states that Aletha taught in the county for four years and three months since March 1911. Signed in Waterloo, Iowa, on Oct. 18th, 1922. Aletha Hutchison Jacobs, born in Buchannan County, Iowa, was a teacher for rural schools in Benton County (1900-1902), Buchanan County (1902-1910), Black Hawk County (1912-1916), Grundy County (1916-1920), Wright County (1920-1921), and Webster County (1922). In 1922 she moved to Pennsylvania with her husband, Elmer. There she taught at Hummelstown High School in Dauphin County (1922-1924) and Reamstown School in East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County (1926-1960).

It includes several music pieces, responsive reading selections from the Bible, and blank pages for notes. The last page of notes lists information about the Black Hawk Count Superintendent, H. C. Moeller.

407 1986.4.298A Booklet Red booklet titled "Educational Publications, A Pocket Classified Price List." "Prices in Effect June 1921." Published by Hinds, Hayden & Eldredge Inc. 11-15 Union Square, West New York City, Philidelphia, Chicago. The index lists several dozen subjects for which the publisher makes books for that schools can order. The back inside cover lists "Quick Counter Sellers" and the flip side lists the most popular music "folios," each with their prices. This was sent to Miss Aletha Jacobs of Dows, Iowa, from the publishers.
408 1986.4.298B Letter Letter from Hings, Hayden, and Eldredge, Inc. (a book publishing company in New York City) to Miss Aletha Jacobs of Dows, Iowa, dated Oct. 26, 1921. It reads, "Dear Madam: Your favor of the 24th at hand and we enclose our catalogue herewith covering our complete list. We still have some copies of "The Virtues and Their Reasons" and can supply it at $1.25 per copy, postage extra about 14c."  A red booklet titled "Educational Publications" was sent with this letter, documented under 1986.4.298A.
