Woven pattern border around picture varies in size; approx. 2 1/2" around top and both sides and 2" around bottom. "Ferdosi" is clad in brown cloak and white and grey flowing turban wrapped around head and left shoulder. Figure has black beard and various colors woven in for facial features. Dark and light greens make up background for poet, in which his name is written in brown letters. The weaver did such a neat job the carpet is reversible, turning the figure the opposite way. "Ferdosi" is woven facing the right. |

Large bamboo flute. 7 holes are carved into the top, 6 of them grouped a sixth of the way in, closest to the open end. The inside is hollow. The hole that stands alone is closest to the closed end of the flute and has an etching in of 4 triangles across a straight line carved next to it. The closed end is not part of the original bamboo, but rather was placed there after carving. |
